Nezih Tolga Yardimci

Co-founder, CEO/CTO

Tolga is an expert in terahertz optoelectronics and imaging systems with more than 8 years of experience in the field. His work on terahertz devices and systems has resulted in more than 60 publications in international journals and conference proceedings. He received his M.Sc. degree from University of Michigan and Ph.D degree from University of California Los Angeles, both in Electrical Engineering. Tolga has received many prestigious awards, including Burroughs Wellcome Fund's Innovations in Regulatory Science Award, UCLA Chancellor’s Award for Postdoctoral Research, UCLA Biomedical Innovation Award, and SPIE Scholarship in Optics and Photonics.

Mona Jarrahi

Co-founder, Board Member

Mona is a professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of California Los Angeles and the director of Terahertz Electronics Laboratory. She has made significant contributions to the development of terahertz devices and systems The outcomes of her work have appeared in more than 200 publications and have been recognized by several awards including the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE); Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation; Moore Inventor Fellowship from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation; Kavli Fellowship by the USA National Academy of Sciences (NAS), Grainger Foundation Frontiers of Engineering Award from the USA National Academy of Engineering (NAE); Breakthrough Award from Popular Mechanics Magazine; Research Award from Okawa Foundation; Early Career Award in Nanotechnology from the IEEE Nanotechnology Council; Outstanding Young Engineer Award from the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society; Booker Fellowship from the USA National Committee of the International Union of Radio Science; Lot Shafai Mid-Career Distinguished Achievement Award from the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society; Early Career Award from the USA National Science Foundation (NSF); Young Investigator Awards from the USA Office of Naval Research (ONR), the Army Research Office (ARO), and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Mona is a Fellow of IEEE, OSA and SPIE societies and has served as a distinguished lecturer of IEEE, traveling lecturer of OSA, and visiting lecturer of SPIE societies.

Qing Shao

Qing Shao received her B.Sc. degree from the Communication School of Boston University in 2014. In addition, she has an MFA degree from AFI Conservatory and certificate in Entertainment Studies from UCLA Extension School. She has more than five years of experience as an administrative officer. She joined the Lookin family in 2020 as the Chief Administrative Officer.

Rick Friedman

Legal Advisor

Rick Friedman is the CEO and Founder of NovusGC, a recently launched law firm which focuses on providing business-oriented General Counsel services at an affordable price to startups, innovators and early-stage investors. Rick’s prior experience includes serving in senior roles in large law firms (DLA Piper in Los Angeles and Heller Ehrman in Palo Alto), heading up the technology transfer licensing teams at USC and UT Austin, and serving in general counsel roles with public and venture-backed technology companies. Rick teaches Technology Transactions at the USC Gould School of Law as an Adjunct Professor.
